Uninstall Thunderbird From Windows 10

Once you are done with Thunderbird, you can uninstall it from your system. This section guides you through on uninstalling Thunderbird from Windows 10.

There are 3 stages:

  1. Uninstall the program.
  2. Clean the app data.
  3. Clean your email data.

Uninstall Thunderbird

The first thing to do is to uninstall Thunderbird program.

Close Running Thunderbird

Before starting, you should close any running Thunderbird from your system.

Goto Add or Remove Program

Now we need to open the add/remove program interface. To do that:

  1. Head to Windows.
  2. Type Add or Remove Programs.

Search for Thunderbird and proceed with the uninstallation.

Clean the App Data

The next thing after the program uninstallation is to clean up the persistent app data.

Open App Data Directory

First thing to do is to open a File Explorer and type %APPDATA%. Press ENTER aftwards.

Delete Roaming/Thunderbird

When opened, you will see that you are now located at AppData/Roaming. Then, immediately delete the Thunderbird folder and its contents.

Goto App Data Directory

Then, move 1 level up by selecting AppData.

Delete Local/Thunderbird

Once there, select Local directory. There is a Thunderbird directory in it. You can proceed to delete it.

Delete Your Data Directory

Lastly, you can head over to your data directory (e.g. d:\Thunderbird) and delete all of them. Once done, you had cleanly uninstall Thunderbird from this operating system.
